US President Donald Trump has given Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy several days to accept the US plan to resolve the conflict with Russia, the Financial Times reported, citing participants in the negotiations.
The American side, according to the publication, is aiming to complete the deal by the end of 2025 and has increased pressure on Kyiv following a meeting between Trump advisers Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner and Vladimir Putin. During a two-hour phone call with Zelenskyy on Saturday, Washington representatives insisted on immediate agreement, even though the Ukrainian leader had only reviewed the updated document an hour before the call.
Nevertheless, Kyiv previously emphasized its lack of intention to make unfavorable territorial concessions. Speaking after meetings with the leaders of Great Britain, France, and Germany in London, Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine would not deviate from the principle of territorial integrity.
According to Axios sources, the current version of the plan includes tougher conditions for Kyiv, including the possible withdrawal of troops from Donbas and control of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, which is causing skepticism in European capitals.
