Trump allowed the possibility of returning some territories to Kyiv, but refused to join NATO

Former US President Donald Trump has once again put forward an initiative to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, during a recent conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin, he proposed agreeing on a ceasefire. Putin, as Trump noted, emphasized that the resolution of the situation should not be temporary and both sides should seek a sustainable and long-term solution.

The US President also expressed support for the idea of denying Ukraine NATO membership, which, in his opinion, could be an important step towards reaching a compromise. During the discussions, Trump admitted that as part of the negotiations, Kyiv could get the opportunity to return some of the lost territories, which would be a significant achievement for Ukraine in the current conflict.

Trump’s statements have sparked heated debates both in the United States and abroad. Many analysts see this as an attempt to return to the center of international politics by offering his candidacy as a possible mediator in negotiations between Moscow and Kiev. On the other hand, such statements raise questions about Washington’s future position on the Ukrainian crisis, especially against the backdrop of the continued military and financial support for Kyiv from the United States and its European allies.

Trump stressed that rejecting Ukraine's accession to NATO could ease some of the tension and become the basis for dialogue. The issue has been a key irritant in relations between Russia and the West for decades. Moscow has repeatedly said that NATO's eastward expansion poses a threat to its national security and has categorically opposed Ukraine's membership in the alliance.

At the same time, the proposal to return some of the territories to Ukraine came as a surprise. In recent years, Russia has consolidated control over significant territories. The possibility of returning any of these lands to Kyiv could become a difficult topic for negotiations and requires a clear position from all sides.

According to a number of experts, any negotiations on this topic will be accompanied by serious diplomatic and military difficulties. In the current conditions, Russia is unlikely to agree to significant territorial concessions, which could complicate the process of reaching a compromise.
