Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson expressed confidence that Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate, would not allow Ukraine to fall if he wins the November election. He said this in an interview with The Daily Telegraph, emphasizing that Ukraine plays a key role in preserving freedom and democracy in Europe.
According to Johnson, Ukraine is waging an existential struggle on which the future of the entire European continent depends.
"If Ukraine falls, it will be a disaster not only for it, but for all of Europe", the former prime minister said.
He added that Trump, despite his reputation as an unpredictable politician, understands the importance of the Ukrainian issue and would not want his second presidential term to begin with the collapse of Ukraine.
"He will not want to go down in history as the one who allowed the Soviet Union to be recreated.", Johnson emphasized.
The former British leader also expressed the opinion that Russia would not have dared to launch a special military operation in Ukraine if Trump had been in the White House at that time. According to him, one of Donald Trump's main advantages is his unpredictability, which has a restraining effect on world politics.
