Trump Hires Homeless People to Star in Video Calling for Greenland to Join the US

Donald Trump has once again found himself at the center of a scandal after the publication of a video in which, according to his team, the residents of Greenland express their desire to become part of the United States. In the footage, published on social networks, people in MAGA (Make America Great Again) caps say that they dream of the island joining the United States. However, the authorities of Greenland and Denmark have rushed to deny the authenticity of the video, calling it staged and accusing Trump's team of bribing the participants.

The people featured in the video were reportedly homeless and socially vulnerable. According to Danish government officials, the participants were offered a free dinner in exchange for their participation in the filming. The incident has sparked a backlash both among Greenlanders and in Denmark itself, which maintains control over the island despite its broad autonomy.

Donald Trump, who has repeatedly stated his desire to acquire Greenland, used the video to once again emphasize the island’s strategic importance to the United States. In his speeches, he has noted Greenland’s rich natural resources, including oil, gas, and rare earth elements, as well as its key geopolitical location in the Arctic. According to Trump, annexing Greenland could strengthen the United States’ position in the region and provide protection from the growing influence of Russia and China.

The authorities of Greenland and Denmark condemned the actions of the Trump team, calling the video an attempt to manipulate public opinion. The Prime Minister of Denmark stated that "no self-respecting politician should use such methods to advance their interests." Greenland also reminded that the issue of the island's sovereignty is decided exclusively by the residents of the region and the Danish government, and attempts at external pressure will not find a response among the local population.

The scandal surrounding the video has heightened tensions between the United States and Denmark. Recall that in 2019, Trump’s proposal to buy Greenland had already caused a diplomatic crisis when the Danish leadership sharply rejected the idea, calling it “absurd.” In response, Trump canceled a planned visit to Copenhagen, which only worsened the situation.

Hey, the Greenland homeless will find the US homeless situation just as bad, and in addition nobody in the US gets a free dinner.
