Trump called NATO a "paper tiger"

US President Donald Trump once again criticized the North Atlantic Alliance, calling it a "paper tiger." According to the American leader, NATO countries have failed to provide the United States with the necessary support.

"NATO turned out to be a 'paper tiger.' They didn't come to our aid." - declared Trump.

The American president also noted that many alliance countries actively use the Strait of Hormuz for their trade, while the United States does not. He stated that Washington's military operation in the region is aimed at protecting the interests of Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and other countries.

"What's interesting is that many NATO countries use the Strait of Hormuz, but we don't. We don't need this strait. We do this to help Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the UAE, and other countries." Said Trump.

Earlier, on May 10, American media reported on tense negotiations between Washington and London, during which British Prime Minister Keir Starmer allegedly threatened to withdraw from the AUKUS agreement if Trump did not coordinate with his allies on the deployment of forces in the Middle East.
