US President Donald Trump unveiled a 20-point plan to end the war between Israel and the Palestinian movement Hamas, demanding significant concessions from the militants and threatening the group's destruction if they refuse. The document, detailed by Bloomberg, was presented at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday.
According to the plan, Hamas is obligated to release all Israeli hostages, including the living and the remains of the dead, within 72 hours. In exchange, Israel will release approximately 2000 Palestinian prisoners and renounce its occupation or annexation of the Gaza Strip. The document emphasizes that Gazans will be able to remain in place, and humanitarian aid will resume immediately. A temporary "technocratic" committee under international supervision will be responsible for governing the territory, and an economic zone for reconstruction is possible in the future. Hamas will have no role in governance.
Trump noted that Netanyahu supported the initiative.
"We have a real chance for greatness in the Middle East, and we will get it," — the president stated on social media.
He added that the plan was approved by the leaders of Muslim countries and was aimed at "eternal peace" in the region.
If Hamas refuses, Trump promised full support to Israel in eliminating the group.
"If Hamas rejects the deal, Netanyahu will have our full support.", - he said.
Hamas, which provoked the conflict with the attack on October 7, 2023, stated before the meeting that it was not familiar with the text and needed time to study it.
