According to sources of the Wall Street Journal, Donald Trump's entourage may offer Ukraine to give up its desire to join NATO for the next 20 years in exchange for arms supplies. This plan, discussed in circles close to the former US president, also suggests the creation of a demilitarized zone and a temporary "freezing" of the current conflict.
According to the publication, the idea involves Kyiv's long-term refusal to integrate into NATO as a means of reducing tensions and finding a compromise. Such an agreement, according to the plan's supporters, could stabilize the situation in the region while simultaneously providing Ukraine with the necessary weapons and assistance to strengthen its defense capability.
The introduction of a demilitarized zone around the conflict zone would be seen as a guarantee of security for both sides and a step toward a gradual settlement. Trump’s entourage hopes that such an approach, which consists of “freezing” the conflict and abandoning NATO’s aggressive expansion, could become part of future negotiations aimed at stabilizing the region.
