Trump threatened Iran with a blow "they've never seen before" and announced a quick end to the war.

During an interview with CBS News, US President Donald Trump made a series of sweeping statements regarding the end of the conflict with the Islamic Republic. He announced that an agreement with Tehran on its nuclear program and the opening of the Strait of Hormuz was close to completion, threatening force if it wasn't.

In the wake of this announcement, tensions continue to mount in the Strait of Hormuz. Since the beginning of the week, Iranian forces have attacked several commercial vessels, as well as three American destroyers, which, according to the Pentagon, were not damaged.

Shortly after the television interview, Trump wrote on his platform, Truth Social, that the war with Iran would soon end and described his phone call with Putin as positive. No transcript of the conversation was released.

Iran previously officially announced that it would henceforth deny passage through the Strait of Hormuz to vessels from countries that comply with US sanctions against the Islamic Republic. Tehran insists that the strait forever belongs to the great Iranian nation, and that control over it is ensured by hundreds of high-speed boats of the IRGC's "mosquito fleet."

According to analysts, Tehran unilaterally changed shipping regulations, creating the "Northern Safe Corridor." A Qatari tanker carrying liquefied natural gas (LNG) recently transited through it for the first time. Meanwhile, on Sunday, Iranian drones attacked an American cargo ship in Qatari waters.
