Trump Calls on Israel to Strike Iran's Nuclear Facilities

Former US President Donald Trump said at a campaign event in North Carolina that Israel should strike Iran's nuclear facilities in response to the Islamic Republic's recent missile attack. During his speech, Trump touched on a question previously asked of current US President Joe Biden about the possibility of such strikes.

"They asked him what he thought about Iran and whether they would hit Iran. He said, 'Only if they don't hit the nuclear facilities.' But that's what they should hit, right?" "Trump said at a meeting with voters in Fayetteville, near one of the largest US military bases.

Joe Biden on Wednesday spoke out against strikes on Iran's nuclear program when asked whether he would support such an operation.

"The answer is no," "Biden told reporters.

However, Trump believes this is a mistake.

"This is the main threat - nuclear weapons. If someone is going to strike, then this is the object that needs to be struck first, and everything else should be thought about later," — added the former US President.

Trump also noted that if Israel decides to carry out such an operation, the consequences will be large-scale, but stressed that "we will soon find out what they are planning." He has repeatedly emphasized that the Iranian nuclear program is the main security threat and, if necessary, the first step should be to strike nuclear facilities.

Biden, for his part, said Israel's actions must be proportionate and that discussions on possible retaliatory measures are ongoing with G7 allies. The president also expressed the opinion that Israel has the right to self-defense in the face of shelling, but the strikes must be "proportionate."
