US President Donald Trump announced that he has given the Palestinian movement Hamas a final opportunity to reach an agreement with Israel on a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. He set a clear deadline: 18:00 PM Washington time on Sunday, October 5. Hamas had previously rejected preliminary demands from the American side.

Trump stressed that abandoning the plan would have serious consequences.

"Hamas will either accept this or not, and if not, the end will be very sad," — he said earlier in a conversation with reporters in Washington.

The ultimatum concerns a 20-point document calling for an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of hostages for Palestinian prisoners, a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops, and the disarmament of Hamas under international supervision.

The plan has already been approved by Israel, and a number of Arab and Muslim states, including Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Qatar, have expressed support for the initiative. Mediators from Qatar and Egypt conveyed the terms to Hamas yesterday, but the group's response remains uncertain.
