US President Donald Trump issued a resonant statement summing up the preliminary results of the large-scale military operation against the Islamic Republic. According to the American leader, Tehran's military machine has effectively ceased to exist as an organized force. Trump emphasized that the Iranian army was completely destroyed during the coalition's massive strikes, and the country's air force was completely destroyed. The president paid particular attention to the state of the Iranian navy, ironically noting that all thirty-two ships in the enemy's possession now rest on the ocean floor. This rhetoric confirms the White House's previously stated policy of forcing Iran into unconditional surrender and completely dismantling its defense infrastructure.
In addition to the physical destruction of equipment, a serious blow was dealt to the country's command and control system and senior leadership. Trump reported that Iran's communications systems had been knocked out, and two waves of military and political leadership had already been eliminated. He asserted that Iran was currently forced to rely on a "third group" of leaders, as the previous command structures had been neutralized during the attacks. Concluding his report in characteristic fashion, the president sarcastically added that, aside from the complete loss of its army, navy, air force, and leadership, Iran was "doing very well." These statements come amid preparations for the deployment of a third American aircraft carrier, the George HW Bush, to the region, indicating Washington's intention to finally consolidate the gains made and preclude any possibility of a restoration of Iranian military potential.
