Trump says Russia has agreed on 'many elements' of Ukraine peace plan

US President Donald Trump has announced significant progress in talks with Russia to resolve the conflict in Ukraine. According to him, Washington and Moscow have already agreed on “many elements” of a plan to end the conflict, although a number of issues still require detailed discussion. The statement came ahead of a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin scheduled for March 18, 2025. Trump stressed that he is looking forward to this conversation and intends to focus on achieving a ceasefire.

“This needs to stop immediately,” he wrote on his social network Truth Social.

The American leader expressed confidence that a temporary ceasefire is possible and that Russia is ready for such a step.

"We are at a critical juncture. All sides, both Russia and Ukraine, want to end the conflict. I think about it all the time, we need peace," Trump said during a conversation with reporters.

He added that the US administration is seeking a comprehensive agreement that will end the fighting. According to Semafor, the White House is considering radical measures, including recognizing Crimea as part of Russia and appealing to the UN to secure this status in the international arena.

In early 2025, according to Reuters, Trump had already initiated contacts with key mediators, including Turkey and India, to work out the terms of a ceasefire. Experts note that the US administration may make concessions to Moscow to speed up the process. Meanwhile, Kyiv has not yet commented on possible agreements, although Trump insists on Ukraine's readiness for peace.
