US President Donald Trump has strongly denied allegations that the suspension of US military aid was the cause of the failures of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. During a press conference held at the White House, he said that his actions, on the contrary, contributed to saving the lives of Ukrainian soldiers who found themselves in a difficult situation at the front. Trump stressed that he intends to hold a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin on March 18 to discuss the fate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces soldiers, who, according to him, are surrounded by Russian troops.
"I will talk to Putin tomorrow to save these guys who are in a difficult situation. They are surrounded, but they are still alive - and this is thanks to me. I convinced them not to do anything and this saved the situation," — Trump noted, adding that without his intervention, the Ukrainian military could have already been destroyed.
He also expressed confidence that his efforts to resolve the conflict are gradually yielding results, although he did not disclose specific details of the agreements reached.

According to the Institute for the Study of War, by early March 2025, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were under threat of encirclement in the area of the city of Sudzha, which confirms the difficulty of their position.
Against this backdrop, Trump is actively promoting the idea of a peaceful settlement. He previously announced talks with Putin, emphasizing that his administration is seeking to end the conflict as soon as possible. According to Reuters, in early March, consultations were held in Saudi Arabia with the participation of representatives of the United States and Ukraine, where the possibility of a 30-day truce was discussed, which could become the basis for a broader agreement. However, Russia continues to insist on its conditions, including strengthening control over new territories and Ukraine's refusal to join NATO.
