Another case of detection of an unmanned aerial vehicle has been recorded in the West Kazakhstan region. This time, the wreckage of an unknown drone was found in the Zhanibek district, in a remote steppe area, far from populated areas. This was reported by the regional police department on the morning of March 25, 2025, confirming that a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident has begun.
"Together with the authorized services, we are conducting activities to establish the origin of objects similar to fragments of an unmanned aerial vehicle," — the department stated in a conversation with the ORDA publication.
For now, the object’s identity remains a mystery, and experts continue to figure out how and why it ended up on the territory of Kazakhstan.
This incident is the third in the region in the last two months, raising more and more questions about the safety of the country's airspace. The first incident occurred in February, when locals in the village of Uyaly in the Bokeyordinsky District came across an unidentified aircraft about 120 centimeters long. The second drone was discovered on March 18 in the Taskalinsky District - a three-meter object with the inscription "Geranium" that fell intact near the village of Atameken. The current discovery in the Zhanibeksky District, which borders Russia's Volgograd and Saratov Regions, only increases the concerns of the authorities and the public. The police have so far refrained from commenting on a possible connection between these cases, limiting themselves to standard statements about conducting examinations.
Zhanibek district, like other border territories of West Kazakhstan region, is not the first to encounter falling unidentified objects. However, a series of such incidents in such a short period of time is an unprecedented phenomenon. The police department emphasized that the debris was found in a desert area, which excludes an immediate threat to the population, but does not remove the questions about where and for what purpose drones end up in this region.
