Three American F-15E Strike Eagles were shot down over Kuwait in a friendly fire incident. According to an official press release from U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM), the aircraft were conducting missions in support of Operation Epic Fury. The incident occurred at 11:03 PM ET on March 1 during active combat operations that included attacks by Iranian ballistic missiles, drones, and aircraft. The American fighters were mistaken for enemy targets and shot down by Kuwaiti air defenses.
Despite the loss of equipment, all six crew members of the downed fighter jets ejected safely. All pilots have been rescued, are in stable condition, and are undergoing medical examination.
