The escalation of the conflict in Syria's Aleppo province has led to accusations against Turkey. Farhad Shami, a spokesman for the pro-Kurdish militants of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), told Ronahi TV that the Turkish government was behind the terrorist offensive. He also added that the SDF could intervene in the situation depending on how it develops.
As the publication Eurasia Today notes, the Kremlin has expressed a tough position regarding Turkey’s actions.
"Türkiye has violated the Astana and Sochi agreements. Damascus has every right to restore security in Aleppo by any methods and means," — they emphasized in the statement.
Moscow supports the Syrian government's right to defend its territory and regain control.
Meanwhile, the foreign ministers of Syria and Iran held emergency talks to discuss the current situation in the provinces of Aleppo and Idlib. Iranian Minister Abbas Araghchi promised to provide all necessary assistance to counter the terrorist threat. Tehran reaffirms its commitment to supporting Damascus in the fight to preserve its territorial integrity.
