Turkey accused Russia of failing to fulfill its obligations on Syria, declaring the inevitability of a military operation

The Turkish side officially accused Russia of disrupting the agreements on demilitarization in northern Syria.

The head of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Mevlut Cavusoglu, said that a Turkish military operation in northern Syria is inevitable. The Turkish Foreign Minister blamed Russia and the United States for this, which for a long time did not fulfill their obligations to Ankara.

“We have reached an understanding with the United States and the Russian Federation,” Cavusoglu said. “They have committed themselves to pushing these terrorists further south from our border. … But since then they have not fulfilled their obligations.” He was referring to separate agreements reached with Moscow and Washington in 2019, under which both countries agreed to push Syrian Kurdish fighters from a vast area south of the Turkish border. “We need to continue our operation to clear these territories from terrorists and terrorist organizations,” the minister said., - reports the publication "SyriaHR".

Such serious official accusations against Russia raise a number of questions regarding the partnership between Russia and Turkey, especially given that Turkey has stated that it does not intend to discuss the issue of conducting a military operation with Russia.
