China is busy developing an innovative hypersonic gun.

The network edition of East Day published information that in the near future a unique gun will appear in the arsenal of the PRC, capable of dispersing projectiles to 6150 speed - 7000 km / h. At the moment, such a weapon system is being developed by Chinese scientists, but, according to the source, this is an innovative technology that combines the capabilities of conventional guns and electromagnetic weapons, while the main purpose of the weapons being developed will be the defeat of air targets.

It is reported that, in essence, an anti-aircraft gun, of a relatively small caliber, will be used to destroy air targets (cruise missiles, aircraft, ballistic missiles, etc.), and although the number of shots fired per unit of time will be very limited, due to prolonged restart of the electromagnetic part of the gun, high accuracy of hitting targets and massive destruction will fully pay off.

How exactly when this project will be implemented remains unknown, however, experts believe that accelerating the projectile to a speed of 6-7 thousand km / h is not a big problem, however, given the maximum rate of fire of the gun in one shot per minute, there are rather big doubts that the new anti-aircraft gun system will pay for itself.

"Given the limited rate of fire, it is logical to assume that the gun will use a system of rapid discharge of capacitor batteries, but given their low reliability, there is a possibility of an explosion. Moreover, it is completely unknown how the gun will be aimed at the target, which also entails serious difficulties, but if China managed to solve this problem, in the near future, such an armament system can prove quite practical in defeating targets at distances up to 30-40 kilometers (according to information provided by the publication "East Day") ", - the expert Avia.pro comments.
