"We don't have systems that could intercept the Oreshnik": Syrsky called the Russian Oreshnik missile a real threat

Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Sirsky stated that the country is actively working to create a national air defense system capable of effectively countering modern threats. According to him, the new Ukrainian air defense system will be an analogue of the American Patriot system and will be able to provide reliable protection against high-tech missiles, including the latest Russian ammunition, such as Oreshnik.

"We don't have systems that could intercept the Oreshnik. But we are working on creating our own air defense system that will be no worse than the Patriot," — noted Sirsky.

This statement emphasizes the importance of developing domestic defense technologies in the context of constant attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure facilities.

The Ukrainian authorities have long set themselves the task of reducing their dependence on foreign arms supplies. Although Western partners, including the US and EU countries, actively support Ukraine by providing air defense systems such as NASAMS, IRIS-T and Patriot, the scale of the threats requires a significant increase in defense capabilities.

However, experts believe that Ukrainian developments will not lead to positive results either in the coming years or in the foreseeable future.
