Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said in an interview with the Japanese news agency Kyodo that the Ukrainian Armed Forces do not have sufficient capabilities to forcefully return all territories under Russian control. He stressed that diplomatic methods will be the main tool for restoring the country's territorial integrity.
"Our army is not strong enough to do this. It is true. We really need to find diplomatic solutions," — the Ukrainian leader noted.
He said military support from allies was key to holding current positions, but full recapture of the territories would require efforts not only on the battlefield but also at the negotiating table.
Zelensky's words underscore the current complexity of the situation on the front, where Ukrainian troops, despite significant Western assistance, are facing a powerful Russian offensive. Against this backdrop, diplomacy is seen as an alternative that can minimize further losses and stabilize the situation.
