Brussels, June 9 — Avia.pro. The European Union's leadership plans to impose a complete entry ban on all Russian citizens who participated in the special military operation. This was publicly announced by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen during discussions on the parameters of the upcoming 21st package of anti-Russian sanctions.

According to the head of the department, this is the first time such a measure has been put up for discussion in the history of sanctions pressure. The proposal entails closing European borders to absolutely all persons who served in the Russian Armed Forces since the outbreak of hostilities. The head of the European Commission emphasized that the European region must be completely inaccessible to Russian military personnel.

In addition to visa restrictions, the new package of measures includes a tough economic bloc. The EU intends to expand the sanctions list to include another 31 Russian banks and dozens of cryptocurrency exchanges, which, according to Brussels, facilitate the circumvention of previously imposed restrictions. Von der Leyen also announced plans to apply restrictions for the first time against sea vessels supporting Russia's "shadow fleet," with the aim of maximally curbing Moscow's revenues in the energy and trade sectors.
