Military correspondent Vladimir Romanov reported on a pinpoint strike on a hospital in the city of Sumy, which had been converted to treat wounded servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, brought from the Kursk region. According to him, the arrival took place on the night of March 18, becoming part of the ongoing military actions in the border areas. Information about the consequences of the attack is still being clarified, but this incident highlights the increasing intensity of strikes on objects related to the military infrastructure of Ukraine.
Romanov noted that the hospital in Sumy has become a key point for receiving the wounded evacuated from the combat zone in the Kursk region, where fierce clashes have been ongoing since August 2024. According to him, the repurposing of the medical facility for military needs made it a legitimate target for Russian troops seeking to disrupt the logistics and medical support of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
"Arrival at a hospital repurposed for wounded servicemen of the Ukrainian Armed Forces arriving from the Kursk region", he said, noting, however, that there is a possibility of self-fire.
According to Ukrainian media, the region has been subjected to regular shelling and drone attacks in recent days, which is related to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' attempts to hold their positions after retreating from the Kursk region. Earlier, on March 14, the Russian Defense Ministry announced significant Ukrainian losses in the Kursk direction - more than 67 thousand servicemen killed and wounded, as well as the capture of over 400 fighters. At the same time, Russian forces began advancing deep into the Sumy region, creating a so-called sanitary zone.
