In the Engels district of the Saratov region, there remains a risk of explosions in the areas where the fragments of unmanned aerial vehicles that attacked the region on the night of March 20, 2025 fell. This was stated by representatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Saratov region, emphasizing that the risk remains due to the possible presence of unexploded ordnance or fuel in the remains of the drones. Specialists are working at the crash sites, conducting a thorough examination and taking measures to neutralize the threat.
The attack, which Governor Roman Busargin called the most massive ever, had significant consequences. According to the authorities, air defense forces destroyed more than 50 drones, but the falling debris caused destruction and fires. In Engels, about 30 private and summer houses in several gardening associations were damaged, and a fire broke out on the territory of the military airfield "Engels-2", which forced the evacuation of residents of nearby SNT.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations, together with other emergency services, continue to work in an enhanced mode. Particular attention is being paid to areas where the threat of an explosion remains. Residents are urged not to approach the sites of falling debris and to follow the instructions of the authorities. Damage has also been recorded in Saratov: a fire started in one of the residential buildings, and windows were blown out in a hospital, two kindergartens and a school. There are few civilian casualties - two sought medical assistance, their condition is assessed as satisfactory.
