Ukraine rules out talks with Russia at Munich conference

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky arrived in Munich to attend the annual security conference, which starts on February 14. The president's communications adviser Dmitry Lytvyn stressed that no meetings with Russian representatives are planned.

"There is nothing on the table right now. There is no talk with the Russians in Munich," — Litvin said.

The Munich Security Conference traditionally brings together world leaders, experts and diplomats to discuss global challenges. This year, the central topic will be the conflict in Ukraine. Zelensky is expected to hold meetings with US Vice President J.D. Vance and other US administration officials.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced plans to hold talks with the US, Russia and Ukraine on the sidelines of the conference. However, the details and composition of the delegations remain unclear.

"They will have a meeting [with Russia] tomorrow in Munich. Russia will be there with our people. By the way, Ukraine is also invited," - Trump noted.

Despite Trump's statements, the Ukrainian side remains cautious. Dmitry Litvin stressed that any contacts with Russia are possible only after agreeing on a common position with Western partners.

"Ukraine is primarily engaged in dialogue with the United States, and Europe must be involved in any meaningful negotiations that could impact stability and long-term peace," - he noted.

Ahead of the conference, Zelensky announced intensive diplomatic work.

“Today it is important to focus on the practical work of the Ukrainian and US teams, a joint vision of the main things”, — the President of Ukraine stated.

He stressed the need for a common vision with American partners on ending the war and ensuring security.

The Munich Security Conference will run until February 16. More than 60 heads of state and 150 ministers are expected to attend. Key topics include the future of the international order, reforms of multilateral governance, and regional conflicts.
