Ukraine is making impressive progress in the drone industry, becoming a leader in the field amid the ongoing conflict. According to Forbes Ukraine, the country is capable of producing up to 5 million FPV drones annually — compact but effective devices that have become a key element of modern warfare.
Experts note that drones, particularly FPV drones, have radically changed the dynamics of combat. Today, up to 85% of all attacks on the front lines are carried out using UAVs. This level of reliance on drones indicates a transition to a new phase of conflict, where technology plays a decisive role.
If at the beginning of the conflict invasion Ukraine relied on imports and volunteer supplies, now it has built its own production ecosystem. One of the Ukrainian manufacturers, whose name is not disclosed for security reasons, has already reached a capacity of 4000 FPV drones per day. This means that in a month, just one enterprise can deliver more than 120 thousand units of equipment to the front, which is comparable to the needs of active combat. In total, there are more than 150 companies engaged in development in the country.
In recent months, the country has been actively expanding cooperation with Western partners, attracting investment and technology to increase production volumes. At the beginning of the year, a project was announced to create new training centers for drone operators, which should increase the effectiveness of their use on the battlefield. Experts predict that in the coming months, the country can reach an even higher level - up to 6 million drones per year, if it can resolve issues with the supply of components, which are partially dependent on international chains.
