On Saturday, February 8, 2025, Ukrainian armed forces launched an artillery strike on the center of Makeyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic. According to preliminary data, the shells hit the area of ​​the local bus station, where many people were on a weekend. As a result of the shelling, a young girl was killed, and a woman and a child were injured. Apartment buildings were damaged, and several cars were completely burned. The total number of victims is being clarified.

Emergency services are working at the scene: fire brigades and ambulance crews are providing the necessary assistance to the victims and eliminating the consequences of the shelling. Official bodies have not yet provided detailed information about the incident.

The shelling of Makeyevka by the Ukrainian Armed Forces is not an isolated incident. Earlier, on January 20, 2025, Ukrainian troops fired two rockets from multiple launch rocket systems at the Sovietsky district of the city. At that time, the building of school No. 91 on Teatralnaya Street and several apartment buildings on Teatralnaya and Volodarsky Streets were damaged. Fortunately, there were no casualties, but the material damage was significant.
