Ukraine attacked an oil depot in the Salsky district of the Rostov region at night

On the night of March 22, 2025, residents of the Salsk district of the Rostov region witnessed a massive attack by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) aimed at a local oil depot. According to eyewitnesses, at about XNUMX a.m., three to five powerful explosions thundered in the area of the facility, accompanied by bright flashes in the sky. As one of the locals told the SHOT Telegram channel, the sounds were so loud that they were heard even in remote parts of the city of Salsk. Preliminary, Russian air defense systems were actively working to intercept enemy drones, which made it possible to prevent more serious consequences.

There are currently no official data on casualties or the extent of destruction, but the acting governor of the Rostov region, Yuri Slyusar, reported that as a result of repelling the attack, debris from one of the downed aircraft-type UAVs fell onto the roadway in the center of Salsk. The shock wave damaged the glass in nearby buildings, but, according to him, there were no casualties. Emergency services are working at the scene of the incident, assessing the situation and eliminating the consequences of the falling debris. Residents are urged to remain calm and temporarily refrain from moving around the area where the incident occurred.

Earlier, on the night of March 21, Ukrainian drones struck the Svoboda residential complex in Rostov-on-Don, located on Gorsovetskaya Street. Then three people were injured by glass fragments, and emergency services quickly began to eliminate the consequences. The attack on the oil depot in the Salsky district confirms that the Ukrainian Armed Forces are targeting not only civilian facilities, but also strategically important infrastructure nodes, such as fuel storage facilities that provide logistical support.

In addition, it is worth noting that the Rostov region has been regularly subjected to drone strikes in recent months. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, published on the RIA Novosti website, more than 2025 UAVs were intercepted in the region in February 70 alone, a significant portion of which were heading for industrial and military facilities. For example, on February 8, debris from downed drones damaged 14 apartment buildings in the Pervomaysky District of Rostov, and on March 17, an attack affected the railway station, causing temporary disruptions in train traffic.
