Ukraine has abandoned plans to purchase 65 German Leopard 2A6 tanks.

Berlin has offered Brazil 65 Leopard 2A6 tanks and 78 Marder 1A5 infantry fighting vehicles, which were previously offered to Kyiv but failed to elicit interest, according to the Brazilian publication Tecno&Defesa.

According to the publication, the equipment comes from the Bundeswehr's strategic reserves and was repaired by KNDS. However, the vehicles are highly worn and deemed unsuitable for further modernization. Ukraine rejected them due to a lack of spare parts logistics and insufficient funding for maintenance. The package is estimated at €15 million for each Leopard 2A6 and €10 million for the Marder 1A5, excluding support.

The proposal fits into Brazil's "New Family of Tracked Armored Vehicles" program. There has been no official confirmation from Berlin or Brazil yet.
