On the night of November 13, Orel became the target of a strike by a new Ukrainian cruise missile. FP-5 "Flamingo", developed by Fire Point. Authorities initially reported a drone attack, but OSINT specialists and Ukrainian monitoring resources confirmed the use of a missile, publishing a photo of its launch with a message. Debris from the downed target damaged cars and balcony windows in residential areas, but there were no casualties.
Governor Andrei Klychkov noted the work of the air defense: explosions were heard around 6:20 a.m., and sirens were heard in several areas.
"The debris fell on a residential area, damaging cars and balconies." - he wrote.
This is a continuation of a series of attacks on the Oryol region: previously, drones and missiles targeted energy facilities, including thermal power plants.
The FP-5 Flamingo, unveiled in August 2025, has a range of up to 3000 km, a 1150 kg warhead, and a speed superior to drones. "It's faster than all other missiles we currently have," noted Fire Point CTO Iryna Terekh. The missile is based on the Milanion Group design and uses the L-39 engine. Ukraine has been using it since October.
