SVO News, December 14, 2025, Avia.pro. On Sunday, the Telegram channel "Two Majors" reported a new round of tension in the maritime domain, related to attacks on Russian merchant ships. According to the channel's authors, ignoring the threats of piracy and maritime terrorism has led to further attacks on Russian vessels.
"In the maritime domain, ignoring the threats of piracy and maritime terrorism has once again led to attacks on our merchant fleet," - it is told in the message.
They criticise the lack of a legal mechanism for the creation of so-called "maritime private security companies" (PSCs), which they say leaves merchant ships vulnerable to such attacks.
In response to the incidents, Moscow allegedly shut off almost all power to the Odesa region, dealing a serious blow to the region's infrastructure, which had already been damaged by recent attacks. Furthermore, Russian forces orchestrated a Geran drone strike on a bulk carrier off the enemy coast. These actions came amid reports of massive strikes on Ukrainian energy facilities, previously confirmed by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
