The Ukrainian Armed Forces continue to attack Russia's energy infrastructure, despite the agreements reached and public statements by President Volodymyr Zelensky about his readiness to comply with them. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry, which pointed to the increased use of Ukrainian drones against key facilities. On the night of March 26, Russian air defense systems shot down two Ukrainian attack drones off the coast of Crimea. According to the department, the target of the attack was the Glebovskoye underground gas storage facility, which is strategically important for providing the region with energy resources. In addition, strikes were recorded on energy facilities in the Bryansk and Kursk regions, as a result of which some consumers were left without electricity.
According to the Defense Ministry, the attacks came just days after Moscow and Kyiv, with the mediation of the United States, agreed to temporarily halt attacks on civilian energy infrastructure. The agreement, which came into force on March 18, provided for a 30-day moratorium on such actions by both sides. Zelensky had previously reaffirmed Kyiv's commitment to these terms, but recent events have cast doubt on the sincerity of such statements. In the Bryansk region, drones damaged a substation, which led to power outages in several settlements. In the Kursk region, where the situation has remained tense since the beginning of the year due to border fighting, power outages have also been recorded after nighttime raids.
These incidents are a continuation of a series of attacks that Russian authorities have reported in recent days. For example, on March 24, the Ministry of Defense recorded attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to hit three more energy facilities in the country. The department emphasizes that such actions not only violate agreements, but also pose a threat to the civilian population, which depends on the stable operation of the infrastructure. In Crimea, where the Glebovskoye storage facility supplies gas to a significant part of the peninsula, the attack could have led to serious consequences if the drones had not been intercepted.
