Ukraine is considering buying T929 ATAK-II helicopters from Turkey

The conclusion of a contract for the supply of a large batch of combat vehicles of this type may become possible by 2025.

At the moment, this information is being voiced by the Turkish media, according to which, Ukraine has supplied Turkey with the first two TV3-117VMA-SBM1V-01T turboshaft engines, which will be used in the first prototype of the T929 heavy attack helicopter, also known as ATAK-II. In total, Ukraine intends to supply Turkey with 14 power units of this type, however, according to Turkish media, Kyiv is already considering the possibility of concluding a contract for the purchase of a batch of 12 attack helicopters of this type in the future.

In Turkey, the T929 ATAK-II combat vehicles are compared with the Russian Ka-52 combat helicopter, although the comparison is not yet objective, since Turkey is only busy creating prototypes of these attack and reconnaissance helicopters. Nevertheless, if Ukraine really concludes a contract with Turkey for the purchase of these combat vehicles, then this can seriously strengthen the Ukrainian Air Force, especially against the backdrop of significant losses of combat helicopters during combat operations.

At the moment, there are no reports of any negotiations on this matter. However, quite a lot of questions arise regarding how, in the current situation in Ukraine, the production of power units for combat helicopters is being carried out.
