Ukraine refrained from long-range strikes in response to the lack of massive attacks by Russia.

In his evening address on May 10, 2026, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that no major missile strikes or airstrikes from Russia had been recorded that day. He added that Ukraine had also refrained from long-range attacks in response.

The Ukrainian leader also confirmed that a prisoner exchange of 1000 for 1000 is being prepared and should take place.

As a reminder, a three-day ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine is in effect from May 9 to 11. It was declared at the initiative of US President Donald Trump and provides for a cessation of hostilities and a prisoner exchange on a 1000-for-1000 basis. The day before, the ceasefire, which Russia had previously unilaterally declared for May 8 and 9 in honor of Victory Day, was extended for the same period.

Despite the ceasefire, there have been reports of drone attacks on Russian border regions, resulting in civilian casualties. According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, since the beginning of the ceasefire, Ukrainian armed forces have violated the ceasefire thousands of times, attacking civilian targets. Kyiv, for its part, has stated that Russia has also continued shelling frontline areas.
