Ukraine requests strikes on Russia with French missiles

The Ukrainian Ministry of Defense is negotiating with France to lift restrictions on the use of French weapons to strike targets on Russian territory. As RIA Novosti reports, citing a statement by the head of the Ukrainian defense department Rustem Umerov, Kyiv is actively insisting on the lifting of the bans that were previously established by Paris.

In his message on the social network X (formerly Twitter), Umerov noted that he had held productive negotiations with the French Minister of the Armed Forces Sebastian Lecornu.

“I insisted on the need to lift the ban on striking military targets on enemy territory,” the Ukrainian minister emphasized.

This request demonstrates Ukraine's desire to expand its ability to strike Russian targets using Western weapons. Previously, there were statements that Western partners, in particular the United States, allowed Ukrainian forces to launch attacks with American missiles on Belgorod, but prohibited the expansion of these actions to other regions of Russia.
