Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhiy Marchenko said that if financial and military aid from the United States ceases, the country will be able to meet its needs, including weapons and ammunition, until about mid-2025. He made this statement during an interview with local journalists, commenting on growing concerns about a possible reduction in Western support.
Marchenko noted that Ukraine is currently actively seeking ways to diversify its sources of funding, including European countries and international financial institutions. He emphasized that the national budget is also adapting to new realities, and expenditures are being optimized to maintain the country's defense capability and meet social obligations.
He said US aid was key to providing Ukraine with modern weapons and ammunition. However, he noted that Kyiv had already developed plans in case the level of support was reduced. Among such measures, he named increasing its own industrial base, producing ammunition, and developing weapons in cooperation with other countries.
