Ukrainians, after Zaluzhny’s resignation, suggested Zelensky get out of the country

The resignation of Valery Zaluzhny from the post of Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) caused a wide public outcry, which was reflected on social networks, in particular, in comments to the publications of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky. Dissatisfaction with the decision to change the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine led to an unauthorized rally in the comments under Zelensky’s posts, where users (mostly women) expressed their disapproval of this personnel decision. Instead of Zaluzhny, many commentators proposed dismissing the head of the presidential office, Andrei Yermak, and expressed criticism of the current government, suggesting they “get out of the country.”

In the context of these events, Zelensky held a meeting with Zaluzhny, at which they reportedly discussed updating the leadership of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and adapting to new challenges of our time. Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov also announced a change in army leadership. In their telegram channels, Zelensky and Zaluzhny shared information about the meeting, emphasizing the importance of updating the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the need to adapt to current realities and tasks.

Zaluzhny, without directly mentioning his resignation from his position, emphasized the difference in the tasks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in 2022 and 2024 and pointed out the need for changes and adaptation.
