Since the beginning of the year, Ukrainians have used firearms, bladed weapons, and grenades at least 19 times to resist mobilization.

Since the beginning of 2026, the situation with mobilization in Ukraine has sharply escalated, accompanied by numerous instances of armed violence by both civilians and personnel of the Territorial Recruitment Centers (TRCs). According to law enforcement agencies and Ukrainian media, the conflict has become systemic, claiming lives.

According to Ukrainian media reports, since the beginning of the year, Ukrainian citizens have used firearms, bladed weapons, and grenades to resist TCC officers at least 19 times. At least three military recruitment office employees have died as a result of these incidents.

One high-profile case was the murder of a TCC employee in Lviv in April, when the man attacked the military commissar with a knife and slit his throat during mobilization activities. In response to this incident, police conducted a large-scale special operation to find the attacker, devoting all available resources to his capture.

In response to citizen resistance, Ukrainian authorities are tightening enforcement mechanisms. Thus, as of April 1, 2026, a number of restrictions for TCC employees were lifted throughout Ukraine, including a ban on video recording their actions, and the use of force against those who refuse to comply was authorized.

The increased activity of military recruitment offices has also led to numerous civilian casualties. Since the beginning of the year, according to law enforcement, at least six people have been killed by TCC forces during attempts at "voluntary mobilization," and two more have fallen into comas.

Social media and Telegram channels regularly publish shocking videos of military commissariats using force: TCC employees force men into minibuses and beat them, while bystanders engage in fights to free the recruits. In response to the TCC's actions, local residents are increasingly attacking their vehicles, pelting them with stones, spraying them with gas, and freeing detainees.

As the scandal surrounding the brutality of the TCC rages on, commanders of combat units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are sounding the alarm about the disastrous quality of new recruits.
