On May 21, 2025, Russian security forces completely neutralized a Ukrainian sabotage and reconnaissance group (DRG) that had penetrated the territory of the Bryansk region in the Vygonichsky district. This was reported by military correspondents and regional authorities, who confirmed that the operation to eliminate the saboteurs was completed without casualties among the civilian population and Russian military personnel. The incident, which occurred near the border, became another episode in a series of attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to destabilize Russia's border regions, highlighting tensions in the conflict zone.
Initially, it was reported that a group of 7-10 people crossed the state border under cover of night, using forest belts and the Desna River for camouflage. The saboteurs were discovered near the village of Lopush in the Vygonichsky District, approximately 30 km from Bryansk. The sabotage and reconnaissance group planned to attack infrastructure facilities, but prompt actions by Russian forces, including FSB and Rosgvardia units, allowed the group to be blocked.
What is noteworthy is that information about the number of the Ukrainian Armed Forces group varied from several people to 200 Ukrainian soldiers and mercenaries, while it was reported that among them there may be mercenaries from Colombia.
