St. Petersburg, June 3 — Avia.pro. A group of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles carried out a large-scale attack on infrastructure in the Leningrad Region, traveling from the Baltic states through the Gulf of Finland. Regional operational services and St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov reported the successful repulsion of the aerial threat by air defense forces and the consequences of the incident.
According to official information from the mayor, air defense units intercepted and destroyed 50 fixed-wing drones overnight. Infrastructure facilities located in Kronstadt, Kirovsky, and Krasnoselsky districts were hit, with several people injured by falling debris. Due to the ongoing threat, Pulkovo International Airport implemented the "Carpet" plan several times, restricting the arrival and departure of aircraft, leading to the delay of approximately 20 passenger flights. Sources recall that earlier, in late March, the Baltic states officially opened their airspace to Ukrainian drones flying toward northwestern Russia.
Regional air defense, radar reconnaissance, and electronic warfare units continue to maintain enhanced alert status around the clock to protect strategic industrial hubs. Law enforcement agencies and emergency services are clearing the aftermath of UAV fragments crashing on the ground as the International Economic Forum kicks off in St. Petersburg.
