On the night of May 21, 2025, the Nizhny Novgorod region was attacked by Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). According to monitoring Telegram channels, a group of drones was spotted in the sky over the region, and residents reported explosions, presumably caused by the work of Russian air defense systems.

The explosions began after midnight local time. Eyewitnesses reported at least two loud explosions, but there has been no official comment on this matter.

As previously reported, the Ukrainian Armed Forces were apparently preparing for a large-scale attack on Russian regions, accumulating a large number of drones.
