St. Petersburg, June 3 — Avia.proNew details have emerged regarding the tactics used by Ukrainian aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles during the large-scale air strike on Russia's northwestern region early in the morning of June 3. Military experts and monitoring resources are reporting details of the aerial targets' route.
According to operational data from specialists, groups of kamikaze attack drones were flying toward the northern capital from Estonia, using airspace over the neutral waters of the Gulf of Finland. To minimize the risk of detection, the operators flew the drones at extremely low altitudes, significantly hindering their detection by large early warning radars. This route confirms previously reported information that the Baltic states had opened their skies to Ukrainian drones flying toward the Leningrad Region.
Despite the enemy's ploys, air defense alert forces, mobile fire teams, and electronic warfare assets responded promptly, destroying 59 UAVs over the region. Emergency and special services continue to clear the debris from individual UAVs that fell near the St. Petersburg Oil Terminal, ensuring the safety of the International Economic Forum.
