Reports of the use of F-16 aircraft over the territory of the Russian Federation caused a wide resonance. Although denials have emerged that these could be MiG-29s, they sound uncertain and do not exclude the possibility of using American fighters.

The head of the Kakhovka district administration, Pavel Filipchuk, said that F-16s were spotted for the first time over the Russian-controlled part of the Kherson region. It was only a matter of time before American fighters in service with the Ukrainian Armed Forces appeared near the front line. However, Kyiv has not yet decided to use these aircraft during the attack on the Kursk region.

The enemy’s fears of throwing F-16s into battle in the Kursk direction are explained by the high saturation of Russian air defense, which makes the use of such aircraft risky. However, this does not mean a complete refusal to use them in the future.

The current situation can be regarded as an indirect confirmation that the Kursk region is not the main direction of attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Attacks are also possible on other sectors of the front, which requires increased attention and readiness from Russian troops.
