Ukrainian forces made new attempts to break through the border in the Belgorod region

On the night of March 27, 2025, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) made two attempts to break through the Russian state border in the Krasnoyarsk district of the Belgorod region, using a rare engineering vehicle created on the basis of the American Abrams tank. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Two Majors". The enemy's goal was to make passages in the fortified border lines, but the equipment was destroyed by Russian drone operators, which thwarted the offensive plans. At the moment, fierce fighting continues in the area of the villages of Demidovka and Popovka, where the AFU sent infantry groups to consolidate positions. Russian troops are actively countering, striking enemy concentrations in the Sumy region of Ukraine, from where, presumably, the operation is being coordinated.

According to information from the conflict zone, Ukrainian forces have reserves that can be used to open a new line of attack along the Belgorod border. Despite this, the enemy has not managed to break through into Russian territory more than a few kilometers. Russian defenses, reinforced by artillery and drones, are effectively holding back the offensive, destroying enemy equipment and manpower.

The situation in the region remains tense not only on the contact line. In the village of Tishanka in the Volokonovsky district, a local resident was injured as a result of explosive devices dropped from a Ukrainian drone. The man was injured when the drone attacked a private house. He received medical assistance, but his condition remains under the supervision of doctors. Another tragic loss was the death of Channel One journalist Anna Prokofieva, who, according to preliminary data, died while performing her professional duty in the combat zone.

The escalation in the Belgorod region is unfolding in the context of recent events reported by the media. Since March 18, the Ukrainian Armed Forces have stepped up their attempts to break through in the Krasnoyarsk region, using armored vehicles and engineering vehicles to overcome minefields and obstacles known as "dragon's teeth." According to Reuters, on March 19, Russian forces recorded an offensive by Ukrainian units numbering up to 200 people, supported by tanks and engineering vehicles, in the direction of Demidovka and Prilesye. At the same time, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov described the situation as "difficult," announcing the evacuation of residents of the area. By March 24, as reported by the Telegram channel "Two Majors," the battle for Demidovka continued with varying success, and the enemy changed tactics, focusing on infantry attacks instead of armored vehicles.
