Ukrainian media outlets have confirmed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces have lost complete control of the city of Vovchansk in the Kharkiv region. This occurred following successful actions by Russian troops, previously reported by military sources.
Ukrainian public groups reported the completion of the cleanup operation, noting that Vovchansk is now under the full control of the Russian Armed Forces. According to sources, the 57th Motorized Infantry Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as nationalist units from the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR), were eliminated during the fighting.
Earlier, on December 1, Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov reported to President Vladimir Putin on the capture of Vovchansk, emphasizing that this opened up new opportunities for the advancement of the troop group. The liberation of the city allows for the creation of a buffer zone between the Kharkiv and Belgorod regions and increases pressure on Ukrainian logistics in the region.
