Ukrainian military and NATO intelligence agencies tried to hijack Su-24, Su-34 and Tu-22M3 bombers from Russia

The FSB reported an attempt by Ukraine to hijack Russian combat aircraft.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, together with the secret services of NATO countries, tried to carry out a daring operation to hijack combat aircraft from Russian military airfields. It is known that the Ukrainian military tried to recruit Russian pilots, promising the latter a certain monetary reward and obtaining citizenship of one of the European countries. Information on this subject was reported by the FSB of Russia.

The scale of actions of the Ukrainian military was such that an attempt was made to obtain not only fairly common front-line bombers, but also Su-34 fighter-bombers and even long-range tactical supersonic Tu-22M3 bombers.

“The Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation uncovered and stopped the operation of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine to hijack combat aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces, supervised by NATO special services. Employees of the Ukrainian military intelligence, acting on behalf of the political leadership of their country, tried to recruit Russian military pilots for a monetary reward and guarantees of obtaining citizenship of one of the EU countries, to persuade them to fly and land aircraft on airfields controlled by the Armed Forces of Ukraine”- said in a statement.

It is noted that for the willingness to hijack a combat aircraft, it was supposed to pay 4 thousand dollars, while for a successful hijacking Russian pilots were offered to pay 2 million dollars, which is much less than the cost of any of these combat aircraft.
