Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces conducted an operation in the Caspian Sea off the coast of the Republic of Kalmykia, during which an attempt was made to attack two Russian vessels. This was reported by the Special Operations Forces command on their Telegram channel.

According to the Ukrainian side, the attack targeted the vessels "Kompozitor Rakhmaninov" and "Askar-Sarydzha," which were allegedly used to transport weapons and military equipment. Both ships are subject to US sanctions.

While there are no reliable details about the attack's results, on the morning of December 12, the Russian Ministry of Defense reported the interception of two Ukrainian drones over the Caspian Sea between 7:00 and 9:00 AM Moscow time. This marks the first recorded drone incursion into the area.
