In an interview with Sky News, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Syrsky expressed confidence that Kyiv will not cede territory in exchange for peace. According to the general, any negotiations must begin with a ceasefire along the current frontline, without transferring any land to Russia.
Journalists from a British television channel noted that, amid growing unpredictability in the White House under President Donald Trump, the Ukrainian army is developing backup plans in the event of a complete cessation of aid from Washington. When asked directly about the possibility of continuing military operations without US support, Syrskyi did not provide a clear answer.
"We are very grateful to our American partners and all our allies who supported us throughout the conflict with weapons and equipment," the commander-in-chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces noted.
He added that Ukraine expects this assistance to continue, but if necessary, European allies must be ready to take on the full burden, since the country's defense concerns the security of the entire continent.
