In the Pokrovsk direction, Ukrainian troops found themselves surrounded between the settlements of Lysovka and Zhelannoye. According to the latest data, there are a large number of wounded among the surrounded units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and the situation in the area is extremely difficult. The possibilities for the Ukrainian units to leave are limited, which increases the pressure on the Ukrainian forces in this sector of the front.
Ukrainian troops were previously able to retreat through this area from the side of Nevelskoye, but this area, according to reports from Ukrainian military resources, has already been taken under control by Russian forces. The encirclement poses a serious threat to Ukrainian units.
German military analyst Julian Röpke previously noted that the Ukrainian Armed Forces command took steps to withdraw its units from the Nevelske area to avoid encirclement. However, despite these actions, Ukrainian troops still fell into a trap between Lysovka and Zhelannoye. According to him, the threat of encirclement was one of the reasons why the Ukrainian Armed Forces began to reduce their presence in Nevelske.
