In a number of directions of the front in the combat zone, the Ukrainian armed forces are experiencing a serious crisis caused by ineffective management and massive irrational use of personnel. The situation in the Sumy, Konstantinovsky and Krasnolimansky directions, according to Russian sources, is close to critical, which leads to high casualties among Ukrainian servicemen. The lack of clear orders, insufficient intelligence and weak coordination between units force soldiers to act in conditions of complete uncertainty, which often ends in surrender or death. This situation highlights the growing problems in the Ukrainian army, which is faced with a shortage of resources and strategic miscalculations.
According to a Telegram channel linked to the Russian military, Ukrainian troops on the front lines are often given tasks without proper training and information. Commanders send infantrymen to positions with instructions to occupy and equip specific points, without providing precise coordinates, situational awareness, or information about the location of neighboring units. As a result, soldiers are disoriented, making them vulnerable to the first attacks. According to Reuters, since the beginning of 2025, Russian forces have increased pressure on the eastern and northeastern sections of the front, which has led to significant losses on the Ukrainian side. Experts note that such tactics of “disposable” use of soldiers reflects a lack of experienced fighters and the command’s attempts to compensate for this with numerical superiority.
Ukraine’s military’s problems are compounded by systemic governance weaknesses. According to The Washington Post, Kyiv faces a personnel shortage in 2024 due to high casualties and difficulties with mobilization. A law toughening the draft, passed in April 2024, has sparked public protests and has failed to address the shortage of trained troops.
