The Belgorod region remains an arena of fierce fighting, where the Ukrainian armed forces continue to attempt a breakthrough. The main blow of the Ukrainian Armed Forces is concentrated on the settlements of Popovka and Demidovka, located near the border with Ukraine. Russian troops are actively resisting, trying to hold their positions, but the enemy, according to military sources, has begun to introduce additional reserves into the battle, which indicates Kyiv's intention to increase pressure in this direction.
The situation in the region escalated in mid-March 2025, when Ukrainian units launched a series of attacks on border areas. Popovka and Demidovka, located in the Krasnogvardeisky District of the Belgorod Region, became key points of confrontation. Russian forces are trying to block the enemy's advance, but the Ukrainian Armed Forces are demonstrating tenacity, using the tactics of small assault groups supported by artillery and drones. According to information coming from the conflict zone, Ukrainian troops have activated reserves, which may indicate preparations for a larger offensive.
Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov previously stated that the situation in the border areas remains difficult. Local authorities report regular shelling and drone attacks, which is why a significant portion of residents have been evacuated. In particular, in the Demidovka area, according to regional authorities, almost all civilians left their homes at the end of March. The Russian Defense Ministry claims that it is launching retaliatory strikes on Ukrainian Armed Forces positions, but Ukrainian forces continue to hold bridgeheads near the border, which is causing concern among the population and military analysts.
